Restaurant staff accused of theft

A Chippewa Falls woman is accused of stealing nearly $5,000 from the restaurant where she worked. Jeanne M. Bardsley, 61, 650 Dutchman Drive, is charged in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of theft. Bardsley is free on a $500 signature bond, which prohibits her from having contact with Mom’s Kitchen. She returns to court April 7.

According to the criminal complaint:
Police were called Dec. 1 to Mom’s Kitchen on North Hastings Way on a report of an internal theft. The owner said he became suspicious of Bardsley, who worked as a server, because he observed her not ringing up some transactions in the till. When the owner reviewed records, he noted a large amount of voided transactions and missing money on days Bardsley worked. With the help of an accountant, the owner discovered 171 transactions totaling $4,862 were missing from the restaurant since July 3.
